Move at a humble pace of the body...

... rather than the reckless pace of the mind.

My friend and teacher, Daphne, said that recently and it's been replaying over in my mind for days. Practicing yoga and meditation is one way to examine where you're at in body and mind. We all hope to move through life gracefully, but so often we rush mindlessly from one thing to the next. Before you know it, we're depleted. Or injured. Or lost in our emotions.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, the fall or Vata season is less aggravating on our bodies when we fill them with warmth, oil, nourishment, stability, routine, and groundedness. Enjoy foods that subdue the dry, erratic nature of the fall (my friends, soup season is here) If practicing yoga is your thing, focus on asanas that invite a sense of stability, warmth, and grounding. You can have a powerful vinyasa practice that is rooted in slow, deep breathing.

This year has been a whirlwind and a welcome change in perspective. Every shift has been positive and intentional. There have been moments when I've had to stop to look down to be sure my feet were planted firmly on the ground. Fortunately, they were.
